1. User Content Responsibility

Users of ProtoLab are solely and fully responsible for acquiring, uploading, sharing, or distributing any content through the platform, including but not limited to rulebooks, game rules, card art, component images, spreadsheets, and any other files or materials.

By uploading or sharing any content on ProtoLab, you represent and warrant that you own the content or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, consents, and permissions to use and share that content, and that doing so does not violate any applicable law or third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.

2. Disclaimer of Liability

ProtoLab, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates are not responsible for and expressly disclaim all legal liability arising from:

  • User-uploaded or user-shared content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
  • The reproduction, distribution, or modification of copyrighted game rules, artwork, or other materials by users
  • Any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from a user's use of third-party copyrighted material within the platform
  • Content generated by AI tools that may inadvertently reference or resemble copyrighted works

3. Copyright and Intellectual Property

ProtoLab is a tool for original game design and prototyping. It is not intended to be used to reproduce, copy, or distribute copyrighted board games, card games, or other intellectual property without authorization from the rights holder.

Game mechanics, as abstract concepts and systems, are generally not protectable by copyright. However, specific expression of those mechanics — including rulebook text, card text, artwork, and component designs — may be protected. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of any such material is lawful.

ProtoLab's AI features are designed to help users create original works. The AI is instructed not to reproduce specific copyrighted content. However, users remain responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before use.

4. DMCA / Takedown Requests

If you believe that content on ProtoLab infringes your copyright, please contact us with a description of the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized. We will respond to valid takedown requests in accordance with applicable law.

5. Acceptance of Terms

By using ProtoLab, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this policy. You accept full responsibility for all content you upload, share, or generate using the platform.
